About Fling.con Board game convention

Back in 2017 we set aside a weekend for friends to get together for a game day. What started with less than 10 players quickly grew to 18+ and soon our numbers grew far greater than a home could allow as players wanted to invite more players. We took to the nearest church that allowed us their gymnasium space. After hosting there twice, it was full, and it accrued the name "Fling.con" due to Joseph Fling hosting the event. As the events popularity grew, the time came in Jan of '23 to rent out a venue. We chose a nice place in New Braunfels, TX that attracted an Austin crowd as well as San Antonio. Our event has now expanded to hundreds of attendees and a very talented staff. With players coming from San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Corpus Christi and all over the great state of Texas, we are quickly becoming a convention of renown.

  We are a multi-day boardgame convention that provides a safe and welcoming space to come play board games with friends you already have and new friends you just haven’t met yet. While you’re with us you also get a chance to connect with small businesses from the local community. Our amazing staff of volunteers is friendly and willing to help anybody learn a new game or find something they are looking for at the convention.

With the cost of admission, you get access to the following features:
Admission Badge(s), complimentary boardgame goodie, boardgame raffles, open gaming spaces, boardgame library, service to schedule games, access to enter boardgame tournaments, miniature painting competitions, designated space for large-scale social deduction gaming, our 2nd Home Boardgame Bazzar, vendor booth and boardgame demonstrations.

When you enter the convention doors you will be greeted by friendly staff who will provide you with any information you need about the convention, your admission badge(s), a free boardgame goodie from our team, and a free raffle ticket for our famously big-prize boardgame raffles. 

If you want to increase your odds, you can purchase additional raffle tickets at the desk or at any time during the convention and rest assured the money you spend on the raffle is going to a good cause because 100% of our raffle proceeds go directly to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. The Cerebral Palsy Foundation is dedicated to ensuring the delivery of the most current research, best practices, and medical technology to people with cerebral palsy and to their support systems, from friends & family to the medical professionals & clinicians.

We offer plenty of open gaming spaces where you can bring your own board games to play or you can try out a new game that catches your fancy from our boardgame library. 

We offer an online & in-person sign-up space for reserving spaces for scheduled games ahead of time and allowing people to sign up to play with you at a time that fits your schedule. 

There will also be spaces and times set aside for tournaments that can even get you qualified for global competitions as well as painting competitions and large-scale social deduction gaming. 

Another feature available to all attendance goers is a 2nd Home Boardgame Bazaar where all convention attendees can purchase games that are ready for a new loving home. If you would like to sell items in the bazaar there is no additional fee to display your games for sale during the convention. We just ask that you sign up at our website in advance. 

Alongside the 2nd Home Bazaar are our convention hall vendor booths. We have spaces available for all variety of small businesses and boardgame associated wares. Some of those vendors will even be offering free demonstrations of games they are planning to or have already published. 

Fling.con no longer is able to offer free meals and snacks. However we will have some meals available for purchase at a very reasonable price.
